Spurs are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Mourinho after 17 months in charge of the capital club.
However, according to The Athletic, the Tottenham hierarchy have already made contact with representatives of Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelino.
The Spaniard guided Los Leones to this season’s Copa del Rey final, losing 4-0 to Barcelona, but things have not been going too well for the 55-year-old this campaign, who only been in charge at the San Mames Stadium since January, and it appears most Spurs fans want him to stay there.
“Swear he’s more of a dinosaur”
“This has massive failure written all over it”
“no no no no”
“They want us to be angry”
“So, even after the fiasco of the last 48-72 hours they are STILL not listening….truly incredible.”
Marcelino has enjoyed successful stints with Villarreal and Valencia, guiding the Yellow Submarines back to La Liga before recording three consecutive top-six finishes, as well as reaching a Europa League semi-final. He won his first piece of silverware as a manager, the Copa del Rey, at the Mestalla in 2018/19.
