29-year-old Ryan Mason will take charge of Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

Mason has been installed as temporary manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho at the start of this week.

In his first game in the dugout, Spurs came from behind to beat Southampton and keep their slim Champions League qualification hopes alive.

Mason will now oversee the bid to land the club their first silverware for 13 years, but he’ll have to get the better of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to do so.

Mason ‘transmitting good energy’ to the Spurs players

Ahead of the Wembley clash, Spurs captain Hugo Lloris was full of praise for Mason’s early efforts.

He said the former Hull City player had given the team ‘structure’ and ‘shape’.

Through his ‘maturity and confidence’, ‘he transmits good energy to the players’, Lloris added.

In the Frenchman’s judgement, Mason is ‘ready’ for the task.

Fan feed Hotspur Related circulated his comments, and here’s how supporters reacted.

Spurs fans split after Lloris gives Mason verdict

“Mase did it in 3 days… Jose couldn’t do it with Kane fit… if we get an actual manager Ryan has to be part of the staff”

@Manu23588

“I love hearing this. Appointing a manager who all these players have played with & who they rooted for though a tragic injury might prove to be a pretty inspired decision. They might actually run for him…”

@FplFreud

“These players have no shame..funny how they r talking as if we didnt struggle against a southampton side who have nothing to play for”

@kkboronto

“Talk is cheap, we will see what structure he instills in time, the first half against Southampton was worse than anything mourinho served up!”

@SouthwestYid

“All the right soundbites, but realistically I think our chances of winning tomorrow are slim to none, unless City play their junior team, especially without Kane”

@spursman_foreve

“Sly dig at Jose regarding structure etc”

@alexcoys2020

“Yeh, not a good look for José here.”

@otheranthony

“Tells you everything Jose didn’t do!”
