Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting on Twitter after Paul Merson and Tim Sherwood debated over Harry Kane’s future at the club.

The 27-year-old has been in fabulous form for Spurs this season, bagging 29 goals and providing 16 assists in all competitions for the capital club.

However, despite the England international’s incredible displays, Jose Mourinho’s men are languishing in seventh position in the Premier League table and will end the season trophyless if Manchester City overcome them in the Carabao Cup final.

Tottenham’s plight has led to intense speculation that Kane could depart his boyhood club over the summer in search of silverware, and Merson and Sherwood have suggested the striker could leave north London for Manchester United and medals if Mourinho fails to guide Spurs into the Champions League places this term.

Although several sources have linked Kane with a summer exit, Merson’s belief that Daniel Levy would sell his star man to a domestic rival appeared to anger the Tottenham fans.

“Sorry Merson but Levy won’t sell to United. Besides United? Is he really gonna win loads of trophies there ? No. City are still miles ahead of them and us.”

“Here we go again sky sports selling all the spurs players . I get merson ex gunner but sherwood bitter like the rest of them . Kane will not go to utd simple reason levy will want 150 mil plus for the best forward in the world so sky yet again pointless debate”

“Sherwood and merson = dumb and dumber”
