A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a post from The Spurs Web, which contains quotes from Ryan Mason ahead of Spurs’ Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
The interim Tottenham boss claimed that if they “don’t get over the line” against City, they will still have their “identity” and “DNA” as a football club.
These comments infuriated these Spurs fans who think that this is just an excuse in case they lose.
“Nope. Only thing he’s right about is the “DNA” and that currently is underwhelming losses every season”
“No way Ryan.. we have to win this … can’t afford this meltdown”
“Sounds like an excuse already. It would indeed seem like the losing mentality remains intact.”
Do you think this is a losing mentality from Mason?
Yes
No
Spurs have not won a trophy since 2008 but have handed Mason the chance to end that drought with just his second game as manager of the club; if he could beat City and win a trophy for Spurs, that would be huge.
However, these comments continued to annoy Spurs fans.
“This is the kind of DNA that will make Kane leave the club…”
“in case we lose there’s already an excuse, Pep would never say such. Just go and win”
“Losing mentality. Already preparing for a loss.”
It will be interesting to see what happens on Sunday against City but what a brilliant story it would be if the former Tottenham player wins a trophy for his former club as manager.
