Liam Kennedy has been speaking on a recent edition of NUFC Matters about all things relating to Newcastle United.

Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Steve Bruce and what he thinks the Toon’s manager has been doing during the international break.

Before the international break, Newcastle were beaten 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion to leave them in deep relegation trouble and then it was revealed that Bruce decided to give his players six days off.

Kennedy thinks that Bruce has probably used this time to visit his home in the North West.

He said: “He’s probably spent a lot of it in North West, hasn’t he?

“Probably quite enjoyed being back home for a few days. So hopefully, he’s had a nice time away from the Newcastle United bubble, which he’s done absolutely nothing to get involved with since he [came] back to his hometown nearly two years ago.

“So, I think he’s probably quite happy with it. I think some of the players will probably be quite happy with it as well.”

Do you think Bruce should have scheduled more training?

Yes, they should have been working hard on the training ground

No, six days off is fine

TIF Thoughts on Bruce…

These are pretty harsh words from Kennedy and suggests that the Shields Gazette reporter doesn’t rate Bruce, and given his record over the past few months, who can blame him?

The fact that Bruce decided to schedule six days off after that defeat against Brighton was baffling, and it was even more puzzling when there were suggestions that some players were already unhappy with the number of days off scheduled.

The Toon face Tottenham Hotspur next, so we will have to see what sort of impact that time off has had on the players, we hope for their sake that it has helped, but we are not convinced.
