Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Steve Bruce’s future.

The Toon’s manager has led his side to an awful record of two wins since the 12th of December, but the club have stood by him, and there are even suggestions that they will give him a new contract if he can keep Newcastle in the Premier League.

This despite the fact a recent survey by The Chronicle found that 95% of Toon fans who took part want Bruce to be sacked.

However, Kennedy can see Bruce staying on Tyneside beyond the end of the season.

He said: “I don’t believe he wants to walk away in the summer. I think he wants to stay at the football club and I think he might.

“I think he might because you’d like to hope they’ve got enough to keep them up this season, and I think he will definitely stay if he does keep them up.

“I think if Mike Ashley remains at the football club in 12 months’ time and Newcastle United are still in the Premier League, it [would] be no shock to me to see that Steve Bruce would still be Newcastle United manager.”

Do you think Bruce will still be Newcastle manager this time next year?

No, surely not

Yes, he could be

TIF Thoughts on Bruce…

The former Sunderland boss has eight games to save his side from relegation and prevent his third relegation from the Premier League in his managerial career, and the Toon have a three-point lead over Fulham with a game in hand.

So, they are doing just enough to survive at the moment; however, you would think that they will have to start winning matches at some point, and a trip to fellow relegation battlers Burnley could be the ideal opportunity to do that.

Even if Bruce does keep the Toon up, we think that given the money he has spent on the squad, his time at Newcastle has been a failure, and he should either resign, or the club should listen to the fanbase and sack him.

However, Kennedy can’t see that happening, and he can even see Bruce still being the Toon’s manager this time next year, which we find incredible.
