Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

One of the topics that Ryder spent some time on was a potential return for Adam Armstrong.

The 24-year-old departed the Toon permanently in the summer of 2018 for a move to Blackburn Rovers, and has scored 60 goals in 158 appearances for the club, including 24 league goals this season.

However, Armstrong only has until the summer of 2022 left on his current deal at Ewood Park, and Ryder thinks that he could make a return to St. James’ Park.

He said: “Look at somebody like Adam Armstrong, who has ended up being sold by the club. He’s gone somewhere and he’s been given a first-team opportunity at Blackburn Rovers, and he’s been absolutely brilliant.

“He’s got close to 50 goals for the club, and he’s one that you would now not rule out him returning to Newcastle at the end of his current contract at Blackburn, which expires in about 12 months, so he could come back.”

Do you think Newcastle should sign Armstrong?

TIF Thoughts on Armstrong returning to Newcastle…

In his time on Tyneside, the 24-year-old made 21 first-team appearances in which he failed to score, but he did provide three assists.

However, his game has gone to another level at Blackburn, and though his side have struggled in the league, he is the league’s third-top goalscorer.

West Ham United have also reportedly been looking at Armstrong, but we would love to see him back at St. James’ Park playing alongside Callum Wilson next season.

You would think that he could be worth a punt given the season he has had, and it would be great if Armstrong were to return to the Toon.
