A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from NUFC 360, which shares an article from The Chronicle with an update on the proposed takeover of the Toon by PCP Capital Partners, PIF and the Reuben brothers.

Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

The Chronicle relays news from the PA news agency about Mike Ashley’s stance on the bid, and it seems as if, in his view, the takeover is completed and just needs the approval of the Premier League (PA via The Chronicle).

Therefore, talk of James Pallotta holding an interest in the club has had no impact on Ashley as he is committed to selling the club to the consortium that he agreed a deal with nearly 12 months ago.

This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans, who are hoping for good news.

Don’t tease me with this”

We can only pray!”

Here we go again”

@GToonmad

Do you think this takeover will happen?

No, Ashley should move on to another buyer

Yes, we just have to be patient

Yes, we just have to be patient

The takeover is currently going through an arbitration process, which, if successful, will allow the consortium to bid again.

This post continued to draw in Toon fans who had their say.

Sick of hearing about this takeover. It’s over man, we need to move on.”

@DeanWales2

Yawn, he can think what he wants it’s not gonna happen and it hasn’t happened for over a year reevaluate and move on to someone else”

@DennyBaldwin

So basically we’re back where we were last year, with only PL approval being needed for the takeover to go ahead? Which they weren’t willing to provide back then and probably still won’t now…”

@KTD89

“It’s all lies and a complete joke now.”

@DiscoDan18

It is unclear what will happen with the ongoing arbitration case, but it is clear that some Toon fans still hold some hope for this takeover eventually happening, which is good to see.
