of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter which revealed Paul Ince has claimed Manchester United should have appointed Steve Bruce as manager ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Red Devil spent six years at Old Trafford between 1989 and 1995, playing alongside Bruce in a successful United side.

Ince has been vocal in his view that Solskjaer is under-qualified for such a prestigious managerial role in the past, given his lack of experience.

Prior to his installation as Mourinho’s successor back in 2018, the Norweigian had guided Molde to three titles in his homeland before an ill-fated spell in charge of Cardiff City saw them relegated from .

Despite the 48-year-old overseeing United’s rise to second place in the Premier League table this season, Ince has continued to talk out against the retired striker and speak in favour of current Magpies boss Bruce.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “I thought there were better managers out there with more experience, like Steve Bruce or Mark Hughes, who could have come in and done a better job,” he said (as reported by The Chronicle). However, the Newcastle fans appeared to be in agreement, which is not a compliment to the much-maligned Bruce.

“Totally agree…AND there is still time to rectify that mistake @ManUtd even though we will miss him terribly”

“There’s still time to make this happen. I’m in full agreement with Ince”

“I absolutely agree.”

“Take him. Please”

“happily swap!!”

“I completely agree with this”

Newcastle have been involved in a relegation battle for the majority of the current campaign, a sharp contrast to Manchester United’s Champions League tussle, although the St. James’ Park outfit have recently hit a good run of form.
