Newcastle United fans have been reacting to comments made by Glenn Hoddle about the future of Steve Bruce at the club.
The Magpies boss has come under intense pressure from supporters’ groups in recent months following the team’s poor form that has seen them at times staring at the possibility of relegation to the Championship. However, with the club looking more and more likely as if they are going to stay in the division this season, Bruce’s future appears to be looking increasingly secure.
And speaking on the latest edition of The Glenn Hoddle Footy Show (as quoted via The Chronicle), the former England boss felt that if Bruce could keep them out of trouble, then he deserves the chance to manage them from next season as well: “Why would he move on? He would want to be backed and see if he could take Newcastle to a different level.
“I think [Bruce] is fighting for Newcastle. If they stay up, he deserves to have one more year and see where he can go with this.”
These comments were relayed to fans via The Chronicle on Twitter where the fans were less than impressed with his comments, as they tore into the pundit for his viewpoint:
“Please god no. I cannot watch another season of Bruceball. Maxi will leave and the rest of the players will go backwards.”
Unfortunately for those fans, though, it looks as if Mike Ashley is going to stick with Bruce for the foreseeable future, so they had better get used to the idea of him sticking around for a little bit longer.
