Many Newcastle United fans have been demanding that youngster Elliot Anderson be given a chance in their game against Arsenal this weekend.

It comes off the back of an article by journalist Lee Ryder in which he discusses who should replace Joe Willock for this weekend’s game against Arsenal, with the 21-year-old ineligible to play against his parent club.

Willock has been a pretty valuable player for Newcastle United since joining the club on loan from Arsenal, scoring four goals, three of which have played a massive part in helping the club move away from the relegation zone, but now they have to find someone to take his place for the game at St James’ Park.

And when the question was put to fans on social media, there were plenty of supporters who put forward the 18-year-old to get some minutes:

“Elliot Anderson needs a chance”

“Safe now, give Anderson a chance, do him good and will be good to give him game time”
“Give Anderson a chance”
“Give Anderson a run out”
“Anderson”
“With safety basically secured it’s time for some youngsters to get a bit of game time even off the bench, m.longstaff/Anderson/Lewis etc”

Do you think Anderson should be given more first-team opportunities?

After his impressive season for the academy sides this campaign, it would be only fair for him to get some minutes under his belt, a just reward for the hard work he’s put in.
