In an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol, Rob Lee, who made 333 appearances for Newcastle United, believes the Magpies would struggle to find a club that will pay £10 million for their record signing Joelinton.

The Brazilian has struggled since his £40 million transfer from Hoffenheim in 2019, however he is arguably in his richest vein of form with two goals and one assist in his last two home games.

Is Joelinton worth more than £10 million?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The £87,000 per week striker’s good form has coincided with the Magpies also going unbeaten in their last four games, with Joelinton scoring the opening goal against Tottenham Hotspur before netting the second goal against West Ham last weekend.

Speaking on why Newcastle would still struggle to recoup as little as £10 million for Joelinton and how he doesn’t know what his best position is, Lee told This Is Futbol:

“He’s played brilliantly but like I’ve said, he looks great between the boxes but we don’t need him between the boxes because he’s a £40 million striker apparently. So, we need him to be scoring and creating goals.

“If you tried to sell him you wouldn’t get £10 million for him.  The thing is, where would you play him because I’ve watched him and I would love for someone to tell me what his best position is.”

Easy one to get us underway, in what month during 2019 was Steve Bruce appointed Newcastle manager?

The Brazillian striker was signed from Hoffenheim for a club-record fee and was handed the famous number nine shirt but he has failed to impress over almost two seasons.

Since he joined Newcastle, Joelinton has managed to score just nine goals across 75 games in all competitions, which was why Steve Bruce decided to sign Callum Wilson last summer.
