In an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol, Rob Lee, who is a Newcastle United Hall of Famer, believes that Freddie Woodman, who is on loan at Swansea City, is not good enough to be the Magpies’ number one.

There has been a lot of talk about Woodman leaving Newcastle because of his desire to play first-team football, however he and his dad Andy have made it public knowledge that the 24-year old’s dream is to be the Magpies’ number one.

Is Woodman good enough for Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Woodman has impressed on loan at Swansea City, so much so that he was taken back there for the full season after joining temporarily in January 2019, and he will be confident of securing promotion to the Premier League.

Speaking on whether or not Woodman should be handed a chance as the number one at Newcastle and if he’s better than their current options, Lee told This Is Futbol:

At this moment he is not better than Dubravka and he’s also not better than Karl Darlow, but he is potentially very good.

He’s not better than those two at the moment, so why would you make him your number one?”

Easy one to get us underway, in what month during 2019 was Steve Bruce appointed Newcastle manager?

Over the last few months, Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the youngster, which could have been down to his father previously working as a goalkeeper coach at the club.

Woodman will be focused on helping Swansea to secure a play-off place in the Championship as they look to return back to the top flight.
