Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Fabian Schar’s return to fitness.

The Swiss international was stretchered off the field against Southampton in February with a knee injury, but Schar played a match for the Toon’s Under-23s earlier this week.

Therefore, Kennedy seems to think that Schar will play some part before the end of the season, and he is edging closer to full fitness.

He said: (24:41) “It’s one of those things that it was said to me a few weeks ago that he’d probably have a chance for the last four or five games, and that’s what we’re looking at.

“You would imagine that this weekend will probably come a little bit too soon for him, but I would say definitely the week after, you’re looking at the Leicester game. I would think he’s probably got half a chance there and look, it’s a really good thing for Steve Bruce.

(26:10) “If he [weren’t] right, he wouldn’t have played 45 minutes for the 23s.

“I think he’s determined to get some games under his belt and be fit for his country at the Euros this summer. I think we’ll probably see a little bit of Fabian Schar between now and the end of the season.”

TIF Thoughts on Schar…

Before he suffered his injury, the 29-year-old had featured in nine of the Toon’s previous ten league games, so he was starting to play an important role.

Therefore, it would be good if the Toon could get him back, and he can help them finish off the job of securing Premier League football for another season.

Kennedy also mentions the fact that Schar has the Euros this summer, so we can imagine that he will be determined to get back out there, and we hope to see him play some part in the remainder of the season.
