Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Steve Bruce’s future at the club after recent reports suggested that if Bruce keeps the Toon in the Premier League, he will be given a new deal.

This seems incredible given that since the 12th of December, Newcastle have won just three games of football, but they are six points clear of the relegation zone, so they could stay up.

The Shields Gazette reporter believes that Bruce will stay on Tyneside, and the only thing that could threaten his future, apart from relegation, is the proposed takeover of the Toon.

He said: (14:38) “My gut feeling is that Steve Bruce will remain as manager if Newcastle United stay in the division. That is my gut feeling.

“There are a number of things that could change that. There could be problems. He might not want to stay. I think the hierarchy will want him to stay, but I think most importantly, the one thing that could change all that is any kind of takeover.

“I don’t imagine that we’ll be sitting here in a year’s time, if Newcastle United are still in the Premier League, talking about this current takeover. I just don’t believe we’ll be here in a year’s time.

“I think that’s probably the next thing that will have a big say on whether Steve Bruce remains or there is a new manager at the helm.”

Do you think Bruce will still be Newcastle manager by the start of next season?

TIF Thoughts on Bruce…

Even if the Toon stay up, this has been a bad season for Newcastle; in the last summer transfer window, they added the likes of Callum Wilson and Jamal Lewis to a decent squad, and Bruce has guided them to eight league wins, and they sit in 17th, having scored just 32 goals and conceded 51.

So, it seems incredible that just because Newcastle stay up, Bruce could be in charge of the Toon by the beginning of the 2021/22 season.

However, if the takeover does eventually go through, it looks like he could then be in trouble, but it looks like the Toon are stuck with Bruce until that happens.
