Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

During the first half of the game against the Reds, lots of Toon supporters were not impressed with what they saw from Shelvey and his display on the pitch.

This led to lots of Newcastle fans flocking to Twitter to share exactly what they were thinking about Shelvey and his performance.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to Shelvey’s performance in the first half against Liverpool?

“Shelvey offering us nothing, yet again.”

“Shelvey giving the ball away, shock horror. Been stealing a living for years”

“Get shelvey off the pitch”

@maxNUFC_

“Knew it’d be like this, annual Anfield no show. Bruce in the dugout and Shelvey on the pitch… waste of time.”

Newcastle signed Shelvey back in the 2016 January transfer window for a fee of £14.4 million and has since gone on to make over 160 appearances with the Toon (per Transfermarkt).

Looking at these tweets from this group of Newcastle fans, it’s clear to see that they were not happy with what they saw from Shelvey during the first half against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Moving forward, these Toon fans will undoubtedly be hoping to see the 29-year-old put in a more impressive shift out on the pitch than he did in the first or else he could find himself on the receiving end of even more criticism.
