Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest piece of news concerning the Tyneside club.

This comes after Newcastle journalist Lee Ryder shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that club sources have indicated that they would be completely against European Super League plans that have recently seen numerous Premier League clubs sign up to.

Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Toon fans who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest update.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this latest news from Ryder on the Super League?

“is this a joke lol”

@GuvJassal

“Unless it made Mike Ashley’s wallet bigger…”

@CraigMuldown

Can’t help but believe if Ashley was offered the chance he wouldn’t give it a second thought and jump straight in #NUFC

@LockyToon

“Yeah right. I bet Ashley is kicking himself that he didn’t invest and make NUFC a top club. He would have been laughing all the way to the bank with a super league deal. Nothing but greed when it comes to him.”

@ApatheticPawn

“Ashley would be all over that tho if he had the chance 100%. That’s all he is in it for the money nothing else”

@raychalmers1

“Even a club with absolutely no morales is against it..”

@IJM9694

Looking at the replies to this post from Ryder, it seems that despite club sources claiming that Newcastle would not be interested in joining the Super League, some of these Toon supporters are of the opinion that Mike Ashley would be interested in it due to the reported financial benefits of the competition.

Do you think Mike Ashley would want Newcastle to be in the Super League?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, given the backlash that the Super League has gathered from former players and supporters groups of the founding clubs, perhaps Newcastle’s current reported stance on the competition should stay the same.
