Lots of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to vent their anger at a report claiming Mike Ashley will shut down their club shop and make the staff redundant.

In a report from the Daily Mail, it has been reported the Newcastle owner is set to shut down their club shop and inform the staff the proposed new Saudi Arabia-based owners do not want to keep them.

The club shop is expected to be emptied by the current staff before eventually being restocked by the new kit supplier for next season, Castore.

Last summer the club were reportedly close to being taken over by a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium, but it is said they pulled out of the running to buy the club.

However, it has been rumoured a takeover bid is still bubbling away in the background with both parties trying to find a solution to get it over the line.

Do you think the takeover will go through in the summer?

Yes, it has to

Yes, it has to

No, it will fail again

No, it will fail again

In response to Craig Hope’s tweet, the Toon Army flocked to show their frustration with the current owner.

“If true this is absolutely scandalous”
“Genuinely ridiculous this”
Peak Ashley, this. And as for Castore… “
“This club is so bizarre”

Newcastle are currently in the middle of a relegation scrap, but their draw against Tottenham Hotspur and victory over Burnley has pulled them six points clear of 18th-placed Fulham to provide them a glimmer of optimism.

From the replies the tweet got from Newcastle fans, it is clear to see their frustration at the reported decision from Ashley with one even claiming it to be a new low in his time at the helm of the club.
