Former Manchester United man Keith Gillespie has told This is Futbol that the club will almost certainly be interested in Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.

The attacking midfielder has been in incredible form for his boyhood club this season, and has been central to the turnaround in form for Dean Smith’s side.

Villa only survived by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the Premier League season last term but they are currently 11th in the table, albeit they have a game in hand on those directly above them.

Are you confident Grealish will stay at Villa this summer?

Grealish has scored six goals and provided 12 assists in 22 league games this season, and has also forced his way into Gareth Southgate’s England plans ahead of the European Championships.

Gillespie believes that most Premier League clubs will be interested in signing the 25-year-old, who is valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, and he believes he would be a more consistent option than current United star Marcus Rashford.

Speaking to TIF, he has lauded the form of the Villa ace, insisting that he was one of the best players in the country before his recent injury setback.

He said: “I’ve been really impressed with Grealish this season. Before his injury he was as good as anybody in the country.

“He’s got so much confidence, he receives the ball in tight areas, draws free-kicks, and produces goals, he sets goals up, he’s the full package for me. And he’s great at cutting in from the left where he would play, you look at United’s side, you’ve got Rashford that plays there, but I would say that Grealish is a lot more consistent than Rashford.

“He wouldn’t have Rashford’s explosive speed, maybe doesn’t score as much as Rashford, but he’s certainly a player most Premier League clubs would want on their side.”
