In an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol, Marlon Harewood, who made 164 appearances for West Ham, has claimed that Jesse Lingard was suffering from personal issues before his move to West Ham in January.

Since moving to West Ham on loan, Lingard has rediscovered his form with eight goals and four assists in just nine Premier League games which led to Gareth Southgate giving him an England call up.

Will Lingard join West Ham?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

David Moyes is extremely interested in bringing the 28-year old to West Ham permanently, however pundits such as Simon Jordan have claimed that the Hammers won’t be able to afford him.

Speaking on how Lingard’s loan to West Ham has been a release for him and also how the midfielder had personal issues before leaving Man United, Harewood told This Is Futbol:

Jesse got a chance to get out and play for West Ham and he’s shown in the last couple of seasons that he’s a quality player, even under Mourinho the performances he was producing were top stuff.

“Then obviously things went a bit quiet for him at Man United and he probably had a few personal issues which is understandable but when you’re a player, football is a release and that’s all he needed, a release.”

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

It has been reported that Lingard has more than just West Ham looking to sign him in the summer with Arsenal lining up a move if they can’t sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.

It would likely sway Lingard’s decision if West Ham were to finish the season in the top four and qualify for the Champions League.
