Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has been speaking on the latest edition of Touchline Talk to discuss potential transfer moves ahead of this summer’s window.

One name which was brought up was that of Liverpool’s ‘Egyptian King’, Mohamed Salah, amid rumours surrounding his future at Anfield.

Questions have been asked about the 28-year-old’s Anfield future following an interview with Spanish outlet Marca where he stated he would be open to a La Liga move at some point in his career.

Will Salah leave Liverpool this summer?

No

No

Salah has played a huge part in Liverpool’s recent success under Jurgen Klopp having scored 121 times in his 194 appearances for the Reds (via Transfermarkt).

Speaking on the matter, Jones had the following to say about a potential summer switch to the Spanish capital for the Egyptian.

He said: “So clearly, Salah is starting to think about life after Liverpool. I’ve been told for a few months too, that he definitely has ambition to test himself somewhere else.

He’s had a great spell at Liverpool. He’s exceeded expectation. But he wants to show that this isn’t his ceiling and that he could go and do it at a Barcelona or Real Madrid, I genuinely believe that he has ambition to do that and that time is running out to make that move.

“And I think that at a time when Liverpool’s momentum has just completely fallen away – from winning the Champions League, winning the Premier League; now, pretty much nothing – why stay? If a club genuinely comes along now with the money, I think he would probably be willing to go and I think that he sees Real Madrid as a realistic path out.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Over the past few weeks, Salah has provided the Spanish media with an interview in which he has openly refused to turn down a move to Spain at some point in his career.

During Salah’s time at Liverpool, he has won the Champions League and the Premier League. After this season’s disappointment which could likely see Klopp’s side achieve Champions League qualification at best, it may leave Salah wanting more if they fail to finish in the top four.

Even if Liverpool do manage to secure a place in the top four, the huge gap to league leaders Manchester City may leave Salah wanting to seek a new challenge and it is apparent Jones believes Real Madrid could offer him an attractive proposal.
