Many Leeds United fans have been left blown away by Marcelo Bielsa’s comments after their victory over Manchester City.

In perhaps one of the more stunning results of the Premier League season, Bielsa’s men managed to beat Pep Guardiola’s champions-elect on their home turf, despite being down to ten men for the entirety of the second half following Liam Cooper’s red card just before half time.

Leeds spent the vast majority of the game under the cosh, with the hosts having 71% possession and 29 shots, whilst Leeds only had two and managed to score with both of them – which is certainly a contrast to what we have come to expect from them this season.

And speaking after the match (via @PhilHay_), Bielsa claimed that the team tends not to practice those situations, saying that “Nothing that happened today had any influence from my part,” which just left Leeds fans in awe at his response to the win, with many left impressed by how humble he was following the victory:

“This has me absolutely chuckling.”

“Love this. Can you imagine someone like Mourinho saying anything like this and not taking the plaudits”
“Think he’s being a bit modest here, he deserves a fair amount of credit for that, masterclass.”
“This will sound like a ridiculous statement but this might be my favourite thing that has happened today with the actual result being a close second.”
“Murderball about to be next level”
“This is absolute quality, the man is a legend
“This line, right here, is why Bielsa is such a special manager. Performance of the season, amazing result, but doesn’t take the credit from the team, doesn’t claim to be a genius, never about him. This is leadership. What a time to be Leeds!!!”
“Unbelievable! Amazing they pulled this off in that case. Just shows the character and determination of the team.”
