Leeds United fans have flocked to a post on the club’s official Twitter account after Sam Greenwood scored a fabulous free-kick in the Under-23’s victory over Aston Villa’s youth side.

Mark Jackson’s side wrapped up the Premier League 2 Division Two title with three points on Friday night, securing promotion to the PL 2 Division One next season.

The Whites were helped on their way by Greenwood’s stunning set-piece just four minutes into the action at Thorp Arch.

Greenwood is a product of the Arsenal academy but joined Marcelo Bielsa’s set up last summer and has gone on to score nine goals in 16 league games for the Whites.

His latest free-kick topped off an impressive campaign for the west Yorkshire outfit, who have dominated their division, and the 19-year-old’s exploits clearly caught the eye of the Leeds faithful.

“I know it’s only 23’s and it’s big step up to 1st team and prem but I would love to see Greenwood make a few appearances off the bench between now and the end of the season”

Leeds will face stiffer opposition in 2021/22, but if Greenwood can keep up these impressive exploits, then they’ll have nothing to fear.
