Exclusive: Marcus Bent rules out centre-half signing for Everton

|

Marcus Bent has exclusively told This Is Futbol that Everton won’t be signing another centre-back this summer.

With Yerry Mina expected to leave at the end of the season, the Toffees have been linked to a number of names, including Napoli ace Kalidou Koulibaly, who Carlo Ancelotti has worked with previously.

A host of other centre-backs have been mentioned, but Bent, who played for the Blues across a two-year spell, revealed that his former side won’t be adding another to their defensive ranks.

Ancelotti currently has Mina, along with Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate at his disposal, whilst youngster Jarrad Branthwaite, who’s on loan at Blackburn, is another in that position.

To kick off this quiz on Seamus Coleman, what squad number does the right-back currently wear for the Toffees?

Everton might have the second worst defensive record in the top-eight, conceding more goals than the likes of Aston Villa and Brighton, but Bent told This is Futbol that it’s not a position Ancelotti will be adding to this summer:

“I don’t think so. I spoke to someone at the club during the week, and they’re not talking about getting a centre-half.

“They said they’ve got depth in the squad and they’re not going to be buying anyone in the transfer window.”
