David Prentice, a reporter for the Liverpool Echo, has been speaking on the latest edition of the Royal Blue Everton podcast discussing all things relating to the Toffees.

To kick off this quiz on Seamus Coleman, what squad number does the right-back currently wear for the Toffees?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Josh King and his future at Goodison Park.

The 29-year-old was signed in the last transfer window on a deal until the end of the season, but he has only played 117 minutes since he arrived, and Prentice thinks that Carlo Ancelotti is not keen.

He said: (27:15) “You get the impression reading between the lines that Carlo doesn’t really fancy him and it makes you think well, why he’s brought him in in the first place if that’s the case?

“Is it just literally a backup option, in case anything happens to Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

(27:38) “He looked like a very, very promising signing, but it’s almost like Carlo has got him there just in case.

“Therefore, he’s just sitting there kicking his heels on the bench and coming on at [those most difficult periods] of games like for the last quarter of an hour when you’ve got to try and make an impact as best you can.

“It’s deeply frustrating, for him, certainly.”

Do you think King should be given more opportunities?

TIF Thoughts on King…

Everton picked King up from Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee, which given his Premier League goalscoring record, looked like a great deal; however, he has barely featured for the Toffees.

The longest time he has been on the pitch since signing for Everton was against Fulham when he played 34 minutes.

This seems like a shame, and given that his contract is up at the end of the season, we can’t see him extending his stay at Goodison beyond the end of his contract, and we hope that another Premier League club pick him up.
