On the most recent episode of the Transfer Window podcast, Ian McGarry revealed Sean Dyche is ‘on the list of preferred candidates’ for Crystal Palace as the club lines up potential replacements for Roy Hodgson.

The Burnley boss has impressed throughout his time at Turf Moor, earning two promotions with the Clarets and achieving an incredible seventh-placed finish back in 2017/18.

Dyche’s success with the Lancashire outfit has seen him linked with several vacancies within British football, and now the 49-year-old has reportedly attracted the attention of the Palace hierarchy.

Current Eagles manager Roy Hodgson is set to enter the final few months of his contract at Selhurst Park, and with no renewal on the horizon, talk has turned to who could replace the former Fulham and West Brom man.

According to McGarry, Dyche has joined the likes of Frank Lampard and Eddie Howe on the capital club’s shortlist should the 73-year-old depart over the summer.

He said: (19:20) “We understand Sean Dyche of Burnley is also on the list of preferred candidates for Crystal Palace having done a sterling job at his current club for many years. And he’s someone who they would look to depending on what happens with Hodgson and the other candidates that they have.

“And indeed, Dyche came very close to leaving Burnley last summer because of the recruitment policy, lack of investment in the squad by the club, and therefore, you would imagine that he’d be open to a new opportunity. So that’s one certainly that we will keep you up to date on as we hear more information.”

TIF Thoughts on Dyche to Palace…

Dyche has consistently punched above his weight during his Burnley tenure and has proved he’s more than capable of achieving impressive results on a restricted budget.

However, he hasn’t always been credited with getting his side to play attractive football, and after Hodgson’s pragmatism, the Palace fans may want a more exciting appointment.
