DJ and Aston Villa fan Nathan Dawe has been sharing his thoughts on Villa striker Keinan Davis and his wishes to see the striker start a game for the Midlands club before the end of the current Premier League season.

This comes after Dawe made a guest appearance on a recent episode of The Villa View Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side, including their recent 3-1 win over Fulham and their weekend clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

On the subject of Davis, who came on as a substitute during the second half of Villa’s win against Fulham and managed to pick up an assist during the game, Dawe had this to say about the striker. (7.01)

He said: “I’m a massive fan of Keinan Davis. I don’t think everyone is but I am. I think he just adds just a bit more strength and bullies defenders a bit more and when we went into that type of 4-4-2 formation when he came on [against Fulham] we looked so much better, and even [Jacob] Ramsey in the middle, it just turned the game on its head.

“The goal when Keinan’s chased down that defender relentlessly and nicked it off him and to put that cross in, it’s just brilliant.

“I tweeted at the time a little bit excited, I feel like he deserves a start, but I genuinely think maybe he deserves a start in one of these next coming games because he does add something different. I’m not saying drop Ollie [Watkins] for him, but we could work away of playing them both and just seeing what happens because when the subs were made, we were just a completely different team.”

Davis joined Villa’s U18 squad on a free transfer from Biggleswade Town back in 2015. Since then, the 23-year-old, who is currently valued at £2.25 million, has made 79 appearances for Villa’s senior side, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Nathan Dawe’s comments on Davis…

Given how Davis managed to earn himself a solid match rating of 7.53/10 for his cameo appearance against Fulham, making him Villa’s fourth-highest rated player on the day makes it understandable why Dawe would be happy to see the Englishman start alongside Ollie Watkins in the game against Liverpool at the weekend.

Do you think Smith should start Davis against Liverpool?

No

In our view, given how Davis hasn’t started a league game for Villa this season and proved against Fulham just how much of an impact he can make off the bench, perhaps it would be wise to not start him against Liverpool.
