Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has told This Is Futbol in an exclusive interview that he cannot see Morgan Sanson leaving Villa Park this summer.

According to Football Insider, some at the Midlands club are having regrets over signing the 26-year-old.

Sanson joined Villa from Marseille back in January but has failed to make much of an impact so far, forced to settle for a role on the bench.

First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

Despite the above, Hendrie expects the French midfielder to remain at the Premier League outfit, believing his old side would demand a fee that no team would be willing to pay.

Speaking about Sanson’s future at the club with TIF, Hendrie said:

“I’ve seen this time and time again at the club where they’ve brought players in, not really got going. There’s plenty of players that have come in on big money and not done what they should have done, really. It’s a big transition coming into the Premier League, it’s a big football club Aston Villa and the expectations are high.”

The ex-Villa player also added:

I can’t see them going out and selling him straight away unless the money’s right and they get what they sort of paid for him. I’d be very surprised if someone came in and paid that money if I’m honest.”

John McGinn and Douglas Luiz are just a couple of midfield options manager Dean Smith can call upon, so Sanson’s failure to nail down a regular spot in Villa’s starting XI may not come as a surprise to some.
