Aston Villa journalist Ashley Preece has been sharing the latest injury news concerning Villa captain Jack Grealish.

This comes after Preece made an appearance on a recent episode of the Birmingham Mail’s Claret & Blue Podcast where he spoke about a variety of subjects concerning Dean Smith’s side.

First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

During the podcast, Preece relayed the latest update originally shared by Smith in his latest press conference about Grealish’s injury.

He said: “He’s set for another scan next week, so it appears to me they haven’t got to the bottom of it fully. Dean Smith didn’t want to put a timeframe on it. It’s so frustrating, isn’t it, we all want to see Jack back in action, back to his best, but that [isn’t] happening.

“We saw Grealish with [Gareth] Southgate in midweek, chatting about his injury and whatnot. Dean was asked about that and [if] he’s going to be fit for the Euros and [he said] make no mistake about it, he will be fit for the Euros so there’s no issue there.

“I think they’re protecting Jack for his England dream perhaps so they’re not going to rush him back, so we’ll make do without him again.”

Grealish has been out of action since February with a shinbone injury resulting in him missing all of Villa’s nine previous Premier League games (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Ashley Preece’s comments on Grealish…

Given how the 25-year-old is currently Villa’s highest-rated player with an overall season rating of 7.73/10 and the fact that he has provided more assists (10) than any other Villa player this season, it’s easy to see why Preece is disappointed that Grealish is still injured and the club haven’t given a time-frame for his return.

Are you confident Grealish will be back before the end of the season?

Also, with Villa having only managed to win two out of the nine previous league games he’s missed in recent weeks, this shows just how much of an impact his absence has had on the team.

Moving forward, with Villa currently having seven league games left to play in this campaign, it will be interesting to see if the Englishman will be fit enough to make an appearance in any of those games before the end of the season.
