Speaking on a recent video on his YouTube channel, Charles Watts has claimed ‘it will take a lot of money’ for Arsenal to sign Emi Buendia this summer, although the club are in ‘regular contact’ with his agent.

The Norwich City winger has been in scintillating form for the Championship table-toppers this season, bagging 12 goals and providing an incredible 16 assists in 33 league appearances.

Buendia’s impressive displays have seen the South American linked with several of the continent’s top teams, with the Gunners one of those sides rumoured to be interested in the 24-year-old.

Watts has provided an update on the north London outfit’s chances of signing the former Getafe man, disclosing how the club has close ties to his agent.

He said: “People there asking about Buendia, he’s certainly a player that Arsenal like, they’ve watched him an awful lot of times. I’ve spoken about him before on these videos, Edu is very close with Buendia’s agent, he’s the same agent that Emi Martinez [has].

“They’re in regular contact, Arsenal had scouts watching Buendia for last couple of seasons. My only issue with it is, if they can’t get [Martin] Odegaard, he would probably be someone they’d look at. It just depends on what sort of money that Norwich would be asking for Buendia.

“They’re obviously coming up into the Premier League, they’re not going to really need too much money. They’re not going to want to sell their best players, so I think it will take a lot of money to get Buendia out of Norwich in the summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Buendia to Arsenal…

If Arsenal are unable to secure a permanent deal for Real Madrid loanee, then Mikel Arteta is expected to be in the market for another creative midfield force this summer.

While Buendia would certainly fit that bill, his price tag may put the Gunners off from making a move ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Buendia’s contract with the Canaries still has another three and a half years left to run, and with a market value of £19.8m (as per Transfermarkt), it could be an expensive deal to make.
