Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has been speaking on the latest edition of Sky Sports’ EFL Podcast about news from the Championship, League One, and League Two.

An easy one to kick off our quiz on the 2020 summer transfer window in the EFL, which player left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund?

One of the topics that he spent a lot of time on was the Championship relegation battle, and Goodman thinks that Sheffield Wednesday are doomed.

The Owls currently sit second-bottom of the league four points adrift with just three games to go, so it is all looking rather bleak for them, and Goodman didn’t hold back in his assessment of the players and their performances.

Speaking prior to their victory over Blackburn Rovers, he said: “I think they’re all but gone, and it really saddens me to say that, really.

“I was very optimistic when they put five past Cardiff, you just don’t put five past Mick McCarthy’s teams, you don’t put five past Cardiff, not with those defenders, and they did it, and they were sensational.

“I was optimistic, and then they lost 4-1 to Queens Park Rangers and then they lost 2-0 at Swansea.

“I think the weekend is probably going to be the final nail in the coffin.

“You look at their group of players as a whole; they shouldn’t be anywhere near where they are at; it’s a gross underachievement.”

Do you think Sheffield Wednesday will be relegated?

TIF Thoughts on Wednesday…

The Owls have finished in the play-off spots twice in the past six years, but this season has been a disaster, and the club have had four managers, but it doesn’t look like it will be enough to keep them up.

If you look at the squad, they still have the likes of Keiren Westwood, Adam Reach, Barry Bannan, and Jordan Rhodes, who all have vast Championship experience, but for whatever reason, it hasn’t worked.

Dejphon Chansiri will have to start preparing for League One unless they can win all of their remaining games.

Still, considering they have only won 11 matches all season, we can’t see them pulling off the results they require, which is sad, and we feel bad for the supporters.
