BBC journalist Adam Pope has recently relayed an update about the future of Leeds United star Raphinha.

Pope featured on the OTB Football podcast and he was asked about numerous issues involving the Whites. He was asked about potential departures and he gave an update about the future of the Brazilian.

The journalist stated that he expects the winger to stay at Elland Road for another season and isn’t too worried about his future – though he made an exception for a situation where clubs could be willing to spend very high in the market.

Will Raphinha stay for another season?

Raphinha only arrived at the Yorkshire-based side in the previous summer transfer window, as the winger joined for a fee of £16.72 million from Rennes. He switched to the French club in 2019, after joining from Sporting (as per Transfermarkt).

In recent months, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

Pope made it clear that he does genuinely believe that the Brazilian will stay for another season. He said: “I’m not massively worried about losing one of their so-called top players if you like.

“I think Raphinha also, I think they’ll at least get another season or certainly until the next window after the summer out of him. I genuinely do believe that because I don’t think that they have to sell, although obviously if there’s ludicrous prices going around, then maybe.”

Starting with an easy one who is Leeds United's top Premier League goalscorer this season?

TIF Thoughts on Raphinha…

The 24-year-old has made a mark in the Premier League this season by contributing to 12 goals in the league, scoring six goals and getting as many assists (as per WhoScored). He has been the club’s highest-rated players this season too, which shows his ability compared to the rest of the squad.

His market value is currently at £22.5m and it has risen quite a lot since he joined Leeds. If he stays for another season and maintains the level of his performances, it could lead to more interest in the future. This could help the Whites secure a high fee from his sale. So keeping him for another season would make sense.
