Joe Urquhart has been speaking on the latest edition of the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Inside Elland Road podcast about all things relating to Leeds United.

1 of 8

Starting with an easy one who is Leeds United's top Premier League goalscorer this season?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Kalvin Phillips and his standing as a club legend.

Phillips came up through Leeds’ youth sides and has made 206 first-team appearances for the club and was part of the 2019/20 side that sealed promotion back to the Premier League.

This season has also seen Phillips become a full England international, and Urquhart believes that Phillips is already a club legend, and everything he does from here will cement that status.

He said: “I think he probably is already there, given what he did in helping the club get out of the Championship after 16 years.

“I think the only thing he can do now is cement it further.

“If he ends up being a one-club-man and goes on and plays for England consistently, I think everything from here on in is just cementing that legacy because I feel he’s already got a lot of that under his belt.

“I think it would have been heartbreaking to see him leave for a lot of Leeds fans, but I think the way that he stayed, he gave it one more year.

“I think everything from here will hopefully, fingers crossed, cement that further.”

TIF Thoughts on Phillips…

After the 2018/19 season, Phillips was the subject of a bid from Aston Villa, but the £24.3m-rated 25-year-old stayed at Elland Road and then played in 37 league games as the Whites won promotion to the Premier League.

So, you can see why Urquhart thinks that Phillips will go down as a club legend, but it will be interesting to see how long he stays at Elland Road.

If he thinks that Leeds is the place he can achieve all of his ambitions, it would be great to see him stay, but we don’t know if that will be the case.

However, it is clear that Urquhart believes that Phillips is a Leeds legend no matter what happens from here.
