Lots of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on the referee choice ahead of their game against Manchester City on Saturday.

Andre Marriner has been selected to referee the game at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon with David Coote on VAR duty.

Leeds will be looking to keep tabs on 10th-placed Arsenal following their 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday which saw them temporarily move into the top half of the table.

The 50-year-old referee has officiated 17 Leeds games over his career and in those games, Leeds have only recorded six victories – losing 10 (via Transfermarkt).

In response to a tweet relaying the news, the Leeds fans voiced their thoughts about the referee ahead of their clash against the league leaders.

“We are doomed!!!”

In comparison, in Manchester City’s last 12 games officiated by Marriner, they have won 11 of them and only lost on one occasion (via Transfermarkt).

From the reaction of the Leeds fans, it is apparent they are concerned about their trip across the M62 on the weekend with many feeling the task at hand of playing City was big enough before finding out who the referee was.
