Illan Meslier impressed once again as Leeds stunned champions-elect Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.

Meslier made six saves for the ten-man visitors and added three high claims, his SofaScore rating of 7.4 bettered only by Diego Llorente (7.5) and match-winner Stuart Dallas (8.4)

Ex-Leeds player Noel Whelan raved about the performance on BBC Radio Leeds, hailing Meslier as ‘immense all day’ (via Inside Futbol).

The 21-year-old is enjoying a strong maiden season in the Premier League.

His stops at the weekend saw him leapfrog West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Johnstone at the top of the total saves chart. He’s now made 121 in total.

The Frenchman has also kept nine clean sheets – a tally bettered only by Ederson, Edouard Mendy, Emiliano Martinez, Hugo Lloris and Kasper Schmeichel.

Transfermarkt now values him at £15.3million, but given his age, you’d suspect that figure is only going to climb.

On Sunday evening, the official Leeds United Twitter account posted a compilation of his performance.

And here’s what supporters had to say in response.

Leeds fans heap praise on Meslier

“A lot of these seem straightforward saves, but I tell ya what, two or three of them are seriously difficult and he’s done incredible to alter his body shape to make the save.”

@Davey_Ennis_1

“Said it after the game yesterday but for Dallas getting the second he was my motm. Nothing spectacular but solid as a rock. His distribution was very good too. Think just 1 stray pass. Top quality.”

@jbarrytulla

“I wasn’t convinced he was ready earlier in the season, but he has improved massively and proved me wrong. He would have got the clean sheet he deserved yesterday if he hadn’t slipped on City’s dodgy pitch. Did they buy our old one?”

@NakedFarang

“Absolutely fantastic keeper, amongst the best in Premiership in his debut season, just 21. Seriously underrated. Rivals pay £50m+ for equivalent keeper.”

@Mitz_KE

“Not perfect, but that kid has talent and he is growing. Going to be a really good one..how long can we keep him?”

@BarmiesNiagara

“Absolutely brilliant, most keepers won’t gather the ball anymore. Great to see you doing it, Congratulations!”

@NoraDun24415845

“Hard to top Dallas for MOTM, but he’s low-key brilliant.”

@ArizonaLUFC

“Need to tie this marvel down for next 5 years!”

@martynnorton393

“Amazing. One thing Our number 1 could do is to pass the ball quicker with his feet. For me he hesitates and the moment to do a “smash and grab” passes by quickly”
