Having been out of action for around 18 months due to a hip injury, the Daily Mail reported on Saturday that Forshaw completed 60 minutes in a U23 fixture against York City, before suggesting that the 29-year-old could return to Leeds’ first-team training in the coming weeks.
Forshaw was a regular during Marcelo Bielsa’s first season at Elland Road back in 2018/19, featuring 32 times in all competitions under the Argentine, who is reported to still hold the midfielder in high regard.
And, after Readsector relayed the news regarding Forshaw’s return from injury on Twitter, fans of Leeds flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing to be delighted at the prospect of the £2.25 million-rated man’s reintegration to the first team squad.
Do you think Forshaw would get into the Leeds first team now?
So, what exactly did these Leeds United fans have to say regarding the news regarding Adam Forshaw?
“More fantastic news today. Bielsa rated him as his fittest player prior to this horrible injury. Like a new signing.”
“Really pleased for him.”
“Is this a new signing?”
“Oh my actual days I do not believe it.”
“Fantastic news. Great to see him back out there!”
“I’m absolutely buzzing for the guy.”
All in all, it would seem as if these Leeds fans are delighted at the prospect of welcoming Forshaw back to first-team football in the not too distant future, and, considering just how long the midfielder has been sidelined for, it is not surprising to hear some dub his return as being similar to a new signing’s arrival.
