Lots of Leeds United fans have flocked Phil Hay’s latest tweet about Marcelo Bielsa.

Hay recently wrote an article for The Athletic, which claimed that Bielsa had actually considered the possibility of taking a pay-cut if Leeds had remained in the Championship this season.

He had actually made discreet enquiries about the average wage of the other managers in the Championship and after discovered it was lower than his own, was apparently ‘keen’ on potentially lowering his salary accordingly.

The article from Hay suggested that costs at Leeds have continued to rise and Bielsa’s appointment was seen as a risk that they were willing to take. They were even open to having a third season in the Championship with an expensive manager.

Leeds have had some odd players over the last ten years but how well do you remember them. Starting with the most recent one, who is this?

Leeds’ wage bill is expected to hit £100 million this season. But the club knew that their income could increase in event of promotion and they could afford to pay the same sort of money in the event Bielsa stayed on.

“Doesn’t surprise me one bit. It’s never been about the money for Bielsa, he liked the project and challenge of getting us back where we belong.”

A lot of these Leeds fans are hailing Bielsa about the fact that the Argentine was willing to take a wage cut in the event of another season in the second tier.

While they did earn promotion to the top flight, Bielsa has helped Leeds stay close to the top half of the Premier League. They seem to have steered clear of relegation comfortably, too.

All in all, it is clear to see why the fans are so happy with their manager following this report.
