An easy one to kick off our quiz on the 2020 summer transfer window in the EFL, which player left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund?

On the subject of Alonso and the potential positives that could come out of the reported takeover of the club, Conway had this to say on the matter.

He said: “He’s going to lift Derby out of debt, that’s very welcome. In fact, that’s the most welcome thing; if nothing else, Derby will be debt-free and that’s massive, considering the amount of debt that they have accumulated in the last two years, especially.

“That’s really good, players and staff will probably get paid on time, so that’s really good.”

It was recently reported that all the paperwork has been signed and is legally binding and if the EFL approves the takeover then Derby could potentially have their new owners before the end of the month.

On the pitch, Derby currently sit in 20th place in the Championship table on 43 points, seven points ahead of the relegation zone.

TIF Thoughts on Ryan Conway’s comments on Alonso and the reported takeover of the club…

Given how Derby have had some financial issues in recent month such as their players not receiving their wages on time, it would be good for everyone at the club if any financial issues such as this would never happen again if Alonso’s reported takeover eventually comes to pass.

Moving forward, if the takeover does get completed this month, then this would put the club in a good position to end this season as positively as possible and then hopefully focus on attacking their next campaign in the Championship.
