Manager Vinny Perth has recently made a claim about Jack Grealish and his future at Aston Villa.
This came after Perth appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the OTB Football podcast and the panel discussed numerous issues involving the Premier League weekend. One topic of discussion was Villa and Grealish’s situation at Villa Park. Perth believes that it is inevitable that Grealish leaves Villa, as he’d get Champions League football at bigger clubs and it will give him the chance to play more for England too.
It has recently been reported that Grealish is a target for Man City, who are reportedly preparing a bid for the Villa star. The Englishman was also on Man Utd’s radar in the summer transfer window, but the move didn’t materialise.
Have Villa done enough to keep Grealish for another season?
Yes
No
Perth talked about the 25-year-old and he believes that till the time Villa can’t break into the top reaches of the Premier League, Grealish will be linked with a move away from the club.
The pundit stated (5:57): “It’s one of them things that is never going to go away as long as he’s at Villa because unless Villa are in the top four or five then Jack Grealish is going to be linked with the bigger and better clubs – that’s just the way it is. You’d like to think Villa have ambitious visions to be able to get into that, sort of break into the top six.
“They are a big enough club, they don’t have the finances albeit yet. So you’d like to think they want to hold on to Jack Grealish but it’s going to be very difficult. Players like Jack Grealish – wants to play at the highest level, he wants to experience Champions League football, he wants to be in the England squad and whether you like or not if you’re a Villa fan, [if] he is playing for Man City, Manchester United [and] any those top teams, he will be in the England squad inevitably and he will be playing Champions League football.
“So unless Villa can give him that over the next 18 months [or] two years, he’s going to move on and I think it’s inevitable.”
TIF Thoughts on Grealish’s future…
Grealish is currently valued at £54 million by Transfermarkt and he signed a new deal deal with Villa only last year. It has been reported, though, that Villa now value the Englishman at around £100 million, which is a huge amount.
This puts Villa in an advantageous situation and because of the pandemic, clubs could struggle to pay higher amounts of fee in the transfer market. Because of all that, Villa might be able to fend off interest in Grealish in the near future.
