Journalist and former footballer Adrian Clarke has been sharing his praise for Sunderland manager Lee Johnson and his side’s recent run of form after beating Bristol Rovers 1-0 in their latest League One match.
This comes after Clarke recently made an appearance on the latest episode of The Totally Football League Show where he spoke about a number of clubs across the Championship, League One and League Two.
On the topic of Sunderland’s recent run of league form after this latest win and Johnson’s impact on the team, Clarke had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Lee Johnson has always been a momentum manager. Just look at his history, he goes on these unbelievable runs and I think it does go the other way at times and you think where’s the next win going to come from, but then he seems to turn it around and he’s a very up-and-down coach – history tells you that’s the case with him.
“At the moment, they’re on fire, and they’re probably the best team in the division on current form.”
Johnson was appointed as Sunderland’s manager back in December and has since gone on to take charge of 26 games with the Black Cats, winning 16, drawing seven and losing three along the way (per Transfermarkt).
Have you been happy with Johnson since his appointment at Sunderland?
TIF Thoughts on Adrian Clarke’s comments on Johnson and Sunderland’s form…
Given how Sunderland haven’t lost a game in all competitions since their 2-1 league defeat against Shrewsbury Town back in December, it’s clear to see why Clarke has been sharing this praise for Johnson and the team.
Moving forward, with Sunderland currently sat in third place in the League One table with 67 points, three points off the top spot with 10 games left to play, there’s every chance Johnson can guide his team to the top of the table by the end of the season if they continue on their impressive run of form.
