Daniel Levy’s reluctance to offload Dele Alli has caused friction with Jose Mourinho.

That’s according to a report from the Times in the wake of Spurs’ disastrous Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night.

The report suggests that Levy may look to part company with the Portuguese this summer, especially if they are left without European football. They are currently eighth, a point off the top six with a game in hand.

Dele’s fall from grace at Tottenham

Attacking midfielder Dele was one of the club’s biggest stars under Mourinho’s predecessor Mauricio Pochettino.

In four full Premier League seasons with Pochettino, the Englishman scored 42 Premier League goals and assisted 29.

But he has yet to muster a single goal contribution in the top-flight this season, with only 233 minutes under his belt.

According to the Guardian, Dele was on the verge of reuniting with Pochettino via a loan move to PSG at the end of the January window before Spurs learned of an injury to Giovani Lo Celso.

The paper reported at the time that the club’s ‘inability to resolve the Alli situation to his satisfaction’ had ‘grated’, and the damage looks to have been lasting.

These Spurs fans take aim at Levy after Dele report

“Levy not letting Dele leave on loan was Levy undermining Jose and sealed his fate in my eyes. He won’t be here in the summer and Levy will keep Dele for the next manager. Also why we’ll never have a proper rebuild as Levy gets involved and doesn’t move players on when he should”

@JgNabil

“Jose wanted him gone and rightly so, no wonder this has happened. Levy has undermined another manager yet again”

@HazSpur92

“That’s why rebuild is impossible under Levy”

@LetSergeCross

“Levy and HIS players are the problem. Not the manager.”

@N17_COYS

“Jose is right on this one”

@THFC_Preston

“Dele wanted to go, Jose wanted dele to go, Psg wanted dele, Levy big ego doesn’t.”
