Celtic pundit Declan McConville has recently given his opinion about the potential Parkhead exit of youngster Vincent Angelini.

McConville appeared as a guest on an episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed lots of issues involving the Bhoys, their recruitment and future managerial appointments. They talked about the rumours linking Angelini with a move away from Parkhead and McConville expressed frustration at the fact that another Celtic youngster could be departing soon.

It has been recently reported that Brighton want to give the young goalkeeper a chance and they’ve invited him to train with them. They want to see how he develops when he trains with their development team before the Seagulls end up agreeing a fee (as per the Daily Record).

McConville made it clear that the news is upsetting and it is a reflection of problems for Celtic at the youth level.

The pundit said: “It’s very upsetting. Past couple of years, this whole season, we just seem to be using an array of young talent – Cameron Harper away over to America as well.

“There’s been other guys that have went out of the door this season. It shows that the club has issues that are really deep-rooted and it’s not just in the first team. In terms of our youth system and our youth setup, guys don’t want to be there, and that needs to be sorted very quickly.”

TIF Thoughts on Vincent Angelini’s exit…

Angelini has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, as well as Southampton and Everton.

This may not be the first time that Celtic could lose a younger player. German giants Bayern Munich signed Barry Hepburn and they also signed Liam Morrison from the Parkhead-based side. Karamoko Dembele’s contract also runs out soon, while Cameron Harper has already departed.

To lose so many youngsters isn’t a good look for Celtic and losing Angelini will be another blow. So it is easy to see why McConville is concerned.
