Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which journalist Barry Anderson discussed Alex Neil’s stepping down from his job.

According to a statement published on the Preston North End club website, the Championship side and the 39-year-old parted ways on Sunday, with the Scot having been at the club since 2017.

How much do you think members of the Bhoys' squad are worth according to Transfermarkt? Starting with an easy one how much do you think Odsonne Edouard is worth?

In reaction, Anderson took to Twitter to relay the news, adding that the former Norwich City manager is “highly thought of” by the Celtic hierarchy – who are currently looking for a long-term replacement for Neil Lennon after the 49-year-old resigned earlier this year.

However, fans of Celtic then flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing distraught at the prospect of Neil being appointed as their club’s new permanent manager this summer.

Would Alex Neil be a good appointment for Celtic?

So, what exactly did these Celtic fans have to say in reaction to Barry Anderson’s tweet regarding Alex Neil?

“No no no no no.”

@jackspence88

“Behave yourself!”

“Lies.”

“Oh no.”

@Paddy7_

“Hahahahaha no.”

“‘Journalist’ makes up story.”

All in all, it would appear as if these Celtic fans are firmly against the idea of their club appointing Neil, and considering the fact that his former Preston side currently occupy 16th place in the Championship table having picked up just one point from their last five league fixtures, it is not hard to understand why.
