Former Celtic player Mark Wilson has recently revealed details about the club’s managerial decision.

This came after Wilson was hosting the latest episode of The Celtic Huddle podcast and the panel talked about numerous Celtic players and potential candidates for the managerial role at the club. Wilson talked about the managerial situation at Parkhead and he revealed that the race for the job is now down to two men – Eddie Howe and former Celtic player Roy Keane.

It has been reported previously that Keane would be interested in taking over the role at Parkhead and if Celtic do make an offer, the Irishman would like the chance to return to management. Even Eddie Howe would be interested in the role, but he’s waiting for a job in the Premier League right now.

Wilson also said that Celtic fans could well expect a managerial appointment in the next few days and Howe is now the favourite for the role.

The former club man said: “What we expect could be an appointment made within the next few days. The Celtic Huddle’s information is that it’s between Eddie Howe and Roy Keane, but the former Bournemouth man is the favourite.”

TIF Thoughts on Celtic’s managerial choice…

Howe’s managerial stint at Bournemouth ended last year, but Keane’s last managerial stint finished way back in 2011.

While Keane had helped Sunderland get promoted to the Premier League from the Championship, Howe managed to help the Cherries climb from League Two to the top flight more recently, which highlights his quality as a manager.

Since Howe’s achievements are more recent than Keane’s and the fact that he wants his teams to play an attacking brand of football, it is easy to see why the Englishman is the favourite for the job.

In other news; ‘Suddenly Roy Keane sounds a great idea’ – Many Celtic fans don’t want ‘cheat’ at Parkhead.
