Celtic supporters have been reacting to the news that Eddie Howe is reportedly interested in becoming their new head coach.

Ex-boss Neil Lennon resigned as the Hoops manager last week following a 1-0 loss to Ross County, a result which left the reigning Scottish champions 18 points adrift of their Old Firm rivals.

Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth at the end of the 2019/20 campaign following their relegation to the Championship. Despite a disappointing final season with the Cherries, the 43-year-old is still highly regarded within the game and isn’t expected to be short of options over the coming months.

According to Football Insider, Howe is keeping his options open for now and is eyeing a return to the Premier League with potential vacancies at Newcastle United and Crystal Palace of particular interest. However, hearing that Howe is interested in the Celtic job has excited most of these fans:

“If that’s the case, give him a deadline. If it passes, then we move on.”

@CrabbitCabbie

“Good, phew”

@Henriklubo

“Eddie Howe I am on my knees”

@rebekahhhiggins

“If it’s possible then get it done”

@MarkDevlin93

“Interesting”

@McKay779

“Get it done @CelticFC”

@Iain_Fraser

Howe and Celtic could be a match made in heaven. The Parkhead outfit are in major need of a rebuild after this disastrous season, and the Englishman could restore his confidence and reputation by bringing silverware back to the Glasgow giants.
