Celtic supporters have been reacting on Twitter after a post revealed former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre has been linked with the vacant manager’s position.

John Kennedy has been in charge of the Hoops on an interim basis ever since Neil Lennon resigned from his role in charge of the Glasgow giants back in February following a 1-0 defeat to Ross County.

Several big names have been linked with replacing the Northern Irishman at Celtic Park including Eddie Howe, Roy Keane and Chris Wilder, however, a new name has now been thrown into the hat.

According to the Daily Mail, Favre is also interested in becoming the new manager of Celtic, and his potential appointment appears to have excited several sections of the club’s fans:

“Top manager. Plays fast, attacking football, big on tactics, preparation & organisation with a track record of developing players. Also experience of playing under DoF. A massive step up from the likes of Roy Keane”

@Goodguybarry

“I’ve seen a few mocking his credentials had a bad end to his Dortmund career, but he was successful in Switzerland with Zurich, did not bad at Hertha Berlin and he took Monchengladbach from relegation danger to the champions league in four years”

@ordinarybhoy

“Would be a good manager but I doubt it”

@_Lennon1967

“Take take take”

@Bowley67_

“Yes please”

@Grant67Milne

“Even if he did I think most people would overlook it. He’s an exceptional coach, the quality of football on show would be incredible.”

@GaryC88

The 63-year-old enjoyed some success with Dortmund during his time with the German giants, finishing in second place in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund in 2018/19 and 2019/20 before things soured this time around. If Celtic do want to secure his signature, though, then they could have to fight off Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon for his services, who are also reportedly interested in the Swiss coach.
