Lots of Celtic supporters have been talking about Red Bull Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch after some comments recently emerged on social media.
47-year-old Marsch was recently talking to BBC Sport about Celtic after some ex-Parkhead stars tipped him for the managerial opening in Glasgow.
While talking about the vacant hotseat, Marsch said that it is an honour for him to be linked with the job and three or four years ago, being linked with Celtic would’ve been impossible for him. He also talked about his philosophy and the fact that he would want the club to focus on the academy, investing on young players and creating a development process. He said that the focus shouldn’t just be on winning.
Should Celtic hire Jesse Marsch?
Yes
No
Lots of Celtic supporters were left talking by Marsch’s comments and they made their views clear about the RB Salzburg boss.
American by nationality, Marsch has been in charge of Salzburg since the summer of 2019 and before that, he was an assistant manager at RB Leipzig while operating under Ralf Rangnick (as per Transfermarkt).
In the past, he has managed NY Red Bulls, picking up a points-per-match tally of 1.71. He also had a stint with Montreal Impact (as per Transfermarkt).
He helped Salzburg win a double last season and he also won the Supporters’ Shield with NY Red Bulls.
More so, Marsch’s comments suggest that he wants the club to focus more on the building blocks of a project and build for the long term. Considering his recent successes with RB Salzburg, his approach to game and recent comments, it is easy to see why Celtic fans are impressed.
