Multiple Celtic supporters have been talking about a claim from Frank McAvennie regarding the club’s striker Leigh Griffiths.

McAvennie was recently talking to Football Insider and he discussed Griffiths’ future at Parkhead. The former Hoops man said that he doesn’t know what is going on with Griffiths, even though the striker needs to be playing games more and he doesn’t need to be brought on simply for time-wasting, following the striker’s brief cameo in the recent Old Firm derby.

His comments also come amid recent claims (as per The Sunday Post via 67 Hail Hail) that Griffiths could offered a way out of the club this season.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Celtic, though, want to leave that decision to the new manager.

In the recent Old Firm derby, Griffiths had played just a single minute against Rangers. Even against Dundee United, the Scotsman had come on in the second half to play only six minutes of the tie (as per Transfermarkt).

There is a mixed opinion from Celtic fans about Griffiths’ future, with some of them of the opinion that the Hoops should part ways with him.

Griffiths, who earns as much as £15k per week, is now 30 and his market value has only reduced over the last few seasons. Not just that, but his game time has also come down in recent years, playing only 656 minutes in the Premiership this season (as per Transfermarkt).

With this in mind, the summer might be a good time to sell him.
