Celtic have flocked to a post on the club’s official Twitter account after Scott Bain gave an interview ahead of their Scottish Cup tie with Falkirk.

The Hoops host the League One table-toppers immediately after the international break as John Kennedy’s men aim to win their fifth cup crown in a row.

It’s been a torrid campaign for the giants, who are 20 points behind their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Premiership table, but securing some more silverware would perhaps soften the blow of a bitterly disappointing season.

Ahead of Saturday’s tie, 29-year-old Bain, who is valued at £540k (as per Transfermarkt), spoke to Celtic’s media team where he outlined the squad’s intentions for the upcoming cup clash: “We don’t want to give up any trophies easily so we’re determined to go in there and give a good account of ourselves,” he said.

“We know how important it is to win silverware at a club like Celtic. With the season not going the way we wanted it to go, this gives us a chance to give the something positive before the end of the season.” However, for many Hoops fans, his words were too little too late.

“Focus on finding a new Club Scott”

@queenmachine67

“Anything positive this season is too little too late, focus on finding another club, sorry it didn’t work but not good enough just like half the muck that’s been recruited over last 2 years”

@JohnHug76199286

“Pity that focus wasn’t there, from the whole squad, for 10 IAR.”

@DM8883

“Mate you couldn’t save yourself. Be quiet. Every time yous come out and talk it always ends up in an embarrassment.”

@AlbaRepublic_

“Same story just go out and do it too much chat and no effort on the pitch”

@Kylestirrat1

“Yeah that will be the first thing they have focused on this season then”

@katedunbar1

Winning 10 titles in a row was always the aim for Celtic this season, and given how disastrously that went, it’s understandable why the supporters feel as though Bain’s words are hollow.
