Many Celtic fans have been left angry by Jack Hendry’s performance for Scotland against Austria.
Scotland had recently played Austria in the World Cup qualifying stages and as a result of John McGinn’s late goal, Steve Clarke’s men salvaged a 2-2 draw.
In the game, Hendry had started at right centre-back in Scotland’s 3-4-2-1 system alongside Grant Hanley and Kieran Tierney (as per WhoScored).

“Jack Hendry’s defending tonight should remind everyone that he most definitely isn’t the answer and shouldn’t be near a Celtic Jersey.“

Hendry is currently on loan at Oostende, where he’s become a regular part of the Belgian club’s first team. In 24 first-team appearances for the side, he’s also scored two goals and he has one assist while regularly playing at centre-back.
At Celtic, he has only made a total of 27 appearances, while in the 2019/20 season, he didn’t play once in the Premiership under Neil Lennon.

A lot of these Celtic fans weren’t happy with Hendry’s performance and some of them don’t want him to play for the Bhoys when he returns from his loan spell.
The £1.44m-rated defender picked up a rating of only 6.68/10 against Austria (as per WhoScored), which shows that the performance wasn’t exceptional. But the Hoops have already lost Hatem Abd Elhamed, while Shane Duffy returns to Brighton at the end of the season. Kristoffer Ajer may also leave if links with Milan re-emerge this summer.
So if Celtic lose too many centre-backs, they might have to keep Hendry as a squad option for next season.
